With the rainy season just around the corner many people in the community are taking this time to replace their roofs. While some people have tin roofs, many, like the one seen here, are made out of banana leaves. Theses are great because they are cheap, local, and cooler than tin. The downside is that they have to be replaced about once a year. The leaves are dried and then tied in overlaying layers to the beams. Most people wait until right before the rainy season to replace them as not to risk waking up in the middle of the night to a leaky roof.
